Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at charlotte@masterrefinishers.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes, Master Refinishers is fully licensed and insured to provide refinishing services.

The warranty offered covers any workmanship or product issues/defects such as:  bubbling, blistering, warping, and peeling (if this happens, it'll be easy to recognize within the first few months).

The following are not covered under warranty:

  • Damage created by owners or any third party (such as tenants, pets, other work crews, etc.).
  • Damage caused by objects placed on the refinished surface such as suction-cup bathmats, bath pillows, soap dishes, or any similar item used on or in an area. *We do offer a slip-resistant surface on tubs and showers. If slipping is an issue you may want to consider this option.
    • -Here is a bath mat we recommend:

  • Damage caused by the use of any product that is not specifically designed for acrylic surfaces. This may include but is not limited to: Comet, Ajax,, Ammonia, Hypochlorite (raw bleach), or any other abrasive cleaners, acids, toilet bowl cleaners, etc. *See care sheet for recommended cleaners.
  • Damage caused by the use of abrasives such as scouring pads and scouring sponges, steel wool, sandpaper, or any other gritty object or cleaner.
  • Bubbling or peeling due to moisture trapped in the area or from unrepaired leaks
  •  No warranty on rust, rust holes, fiberglass repairs, floor, grouting/caulking

Master Refinishers require that we be notified in a reasonable time of any nicks and chips to the finish as to preserve the integrity of the finish on the tub, warranty doesn’t cover neglect of excessive peeling.

The durability of a refinished surface depends mostly on the proper care and maintenance the user gives to the fixture. This is true for both brand new or refinished surfaces.

  • All leaky faucets or pipes need to be repaired before refinishing is completed, as this can cause issues with the finish. If addressed after it can cause staining and deterioration on the finish. Addressing these issues promptly will help maintain the quality and longevity of the refinished surface.
  • We recommend removing the hardware before especially If you plan to replace any of the hardware (faucets, drains, shower doors, overflows, etc.). If you are going to remove hardware, please have these removed prior, then wait 24 hours to install new ones. If you don’t plan to remove any hardware we will mask off and refinish around. Warranty doesn’t cover any damages during the removal or installation of hardware.
  • If we are refinishing tile, please note that we don’t do grout work. If any missing grout work is of concern, please have this done prior.
  • We take proper precautions when spraying, including the use of an exhaust blower through the nearest window. However, we cannot be responsible for the well-being of individuals or animals that remain on the property during the spraying process. Fumes may linger inside the property and typically subside within 4 to 24 hours. Please make appropriate accommodations if necessary based on any health conditions.
  • Please have all items in and around the refinishing area removed such as: bottles, soaps, bath mats, shower curtains, or any other personal items. Technicians will not remove or put back any items.
  • We have no control over the temperature and humidity of the property. We prioritize protecting your property by using painter's tape to mask areas during the refinishing process. However, there are times when painter's tape does not adhere properly. In some cases, tape can peel your painted walls, rip your wallpaper, or damage your vanity or any other surface in the bathroom where it is placed. Our goal is to protect your property, not to cause damage. If such damage occurs, we are not responsible for it.

Tub & Sink

We recommend that this finish be cleaned with nothing abrasive such as scouring pads or abrasive cleaners.

A soft sponge or cloth is recommended to clean the tub, best used with hot soapy water. These cleaners are generally safe to use on your refinished tub: Formula 409 (without bleach)

Lysol Basin Tub and Tile Cleaner

Nothing with a bleaching agent.

If you have Hard water we recommend using vinegar in a spray bottle, just spray the tub with the Vinegar and let it run down the drain, no rinsing needed.

We do not recommend using tub or shower mats that have suction cups, this will pull the finish off and void any warranty.

Countertop

We recommended that you clean your refinished countertop with hot soapy water. We also recommended that you do not use the countertops to cut food items on, also do not put hot pots or pans on your refinished countertop. If you have any stains you can use Soft Scrub or bar keepers friend. We don’t recommend anything with a bleaching agent. If this counter is cared for well it will last several years to come.
